NB Smooth As Silk

NB Smooth As Silk is another very individual narrowboat, 68ft long, fitted out with oak veneered linings, solid oak cabinets etc and an oak planked floor throughout.  Heating and cooking are supplied by the Heritage Uno range, finished in a deep red, and complimented by black worktops and a baby Belfast sink.  Roman blinds compliment the saloon windows, the galley windows have pierced Venetian blinds and the portholes have fabric plugs.

NB: Some of the photos shown below were taken with a wide-angle lens, which has the unfortunate effect of curving some of the vertical lines

Rear deck is an extended cruiser style with side lockers with seat backs.  Steps down into rear galley.

Right: Full height electrics cupboard to port with engine control panel, and DC distribution panel and battery monitor panel mounted in inner door.  Inverter and AC distribution in lower cupboard.

Left: Full height cupboard to starboard with small tumble drier in base and room for coats and hats behind upper doors.

Galley has a deep red Heritage Uno range, complimented by black Silestone worktops and a baby Belfast sink with triflow mixer tap incorporating a water filter.  The Heritage supplies central heating, hot water and cooking facilities.  Cupboards and drawers share the space below the worktops with a washing machine and fridge, and there are also high level cabinets with lights below.

L-shaped dinette with solid oak table on desmo legs.  Storage beneath bench seats and cabling for chest freezer.

Side doors in dinette and saloon have glazed inner doors

Saloon has custom-built cabinets to port, with deco-panel concealing the flat screen TV.  A solid fuel corner Bubble stove, in a tiled fireplace, and a large radiator ensure that it is a cosy place to sit and relax at any time of year.  Side doors to starboard with glazed inner doors enable the owners to enjoy the view even if it is chilly outside.  Plenty of space for loose chairs or a sofa.  Door forward to bathroom.

Through bathroom has quadrant shower cubicle, lined with white wet-wall panels, with thermostatic control.  White ceramic semi-recessed basin in oak vanity cupboard, with mirrored doors above giving access into large airing cupboard. The calorifier is located in the base of the airing cupboard with full access for maintenance from the saloon via a removeable shelf unit, and has an inline pump installed for easy drain-down.  Tecma mascerator toilet.

Bedroom has a 5ft wide cross-cabin bed with overhead cupboards and reading lights, and a bedside cabinet.  The holding tank is located beneath the bed.  There is a large full-height shelved cupboard to port next to the front doors, a large double wardrobe and a chest of four drawers.  Steps lead to the forward well deck with cratch frame and canvas cover.

The cross-cabin bed is easy to open and fold away, and doesn't leave you with unsightly heaps of bedding in daytime mode.
